Freespace is looking for a Senior Technical Writer to produce high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of our products. We are looking for a seasoned Technical Writer who can set up the Document charter, work collaboratively with developers, quality engineers, product managers, and usability experts to make our products easier to use. You should have excellent knowledge of the B2B SaaS product documentation requirements and tools with all its artifacts and techniques. You ll also need the ability to coordinate people and projects with your mind set on deliverables. Objectives of the role Work with product team to create documentation of the hardware and software for the customers. This includes both user-facing documentation, such as product overview, user manuals, customer facing troubleshooting guides, implementation guides etc AND technical specifications for hardware, such as Product Information, Specifications, Installation procedures, support documentation etc. Having a strong understanding of the products being documented to explain complex concepts in simple language. Also play a role in editing and proofreading the existing or new documentation that other members of the product teams have created. Conducting user testing, to ensure that documentation is suitable for the end-user. The goal is to produce high-quality documentation that meets the needs of its intended audience. Role & Responsibilities Develop comprehensive documentation that meets organizational standards Obtain a deep understanding of products and services to translate complex product information into simple, polished, and engaging content Writes user-friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience, turning insights language that sets our users up for success Develop and maintain detailed databases of appropriate reference materials, including research, usability tests, and design specifications Evaluate current content and develop innovative approaches for improvement Research, outline, write, and edit new and existing content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements Independently gather information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation Work with product teams to identify all documentation repositories, revise and edit, and determine the best solution for data compilation and centralized storage Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that uphold organizational and legal standards, and allow for easy data migration Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation Use photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts that increase users understanding Select appropriate medium for message or audience, such as manuals or online videos Standardize content across platforms and media Gather usability feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers Revise documents as new issues arise Required skills & experience Proven working experience in technical writing of product documentation Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail Understand and explain complex technical concepts Strong research and analytical skills Ability to undertake multiple projects and deliver on tight deadlines Excellent written skills in English Excellent verbal communication skills Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Solid grip on documentation publishing software such as Atlassian Confluence, SnagIt and other product documentation tools Documentation using text, pictures and videos Strong understanding of end user ease on usage of the documentation over the Web using Menu, TOC, Related Articles, Search Keywords etc. Basic familiarity with the SDLC and software development University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent preferred Behaviours and Mindset Be an advocate for high data quality standards. Ensure high standards by instilling data quality checks and documentation in work and team practices. Be a clear thinker with a systematic problem-solving approach, breaking the problem down into simple achievable and realistically estimated steps. Able to challenge processes & tools in zeal to creating the best Product Documentation practice. Create an open, trusting working environment with open communication and input from all. Be unafraid to own mistakes and push their own development as well as others in collaborating teams Always ensure customer priority and focus
