Job Summary: The Civil Project Senior General Manager will assume a critical leadership role, responsible for the strategic direction, execution, and successful delivery of mega-scale railway and road infrastructure projects. This executive position demands a seasoned professional with exceptional business acumen, a proven track record of managing complex, high-value projects (exceeding INR 500 Crore), and the ability to navigate intricate stakeholder landscapes. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the infrastructure sector, coupled with the ability to drive innovation, optimize project outcomes, and ensure alignment with the company's long-term strategic objectives. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership & Program Management: Develop and articulate a clear strategic vision for project execution, aligning with the company's overall business strategy and market dynamics. Oversee the management of a portfolio of large-scale projects, ensuring seamless integration and optimized resource allocation. Establish and maintain a robust program management framework, encompassing project governance, risk management, and performance monitoring. Identify and evaluate potential growth opportunities, including new project bids, partnerships, and market expansion strategies. Financial & Commercial Stewardship: Exercise rigorous financial oversight, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and achieve targeted profitability margins. Lead the negotiation and administration of complex, high-value contracts, including EPC, BOT, HAM, and other relevant models. Implement advanced cost-control measures, including value engineering, and optimize project financing structures. Manage and mitigate commercial risks, including currency fluctuations, inflation, and contractual liabilities. Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, regulatory bodies, financial institutions, and community leaders. Represent the company in high-level negotiations and forums, effectively communicating project progress and addressing critical issues. Proactively manage stakeholder expectations, ensuring transparency, accountability, and alignment with project objectives. Operational Excellence & Governance: Establish and enforce world-class quality, safety, and environmental standards, adhering to best industry practices. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and corporate governance principles. Implement robust risk management and mitigation strategies, including the use of advanced analytical tools and techniques. Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes, leveraging technology and innovation to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Team Leadership & Organizational Development: Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing project teams, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability. Implement talent management strategies to attract, retain, and develop top talent, including succession planning and leadership development programs. Promote a strong ethical culture and ensure adherence to the company's code of conduct. Qualifications, Experience, and Preferred Skills: Bachelor's or Masters degree in Civil Engineering from a premier institution. An MBA or advanced degree in a related field is highly preferred. Minimum of 25-30 years of progressive experience in managing mega-scale infrastructure projects, with a focus on railways and roads. Proven track record of successfully delivering projects exceeding INR 500 Crore in value, with a strong emphasis on profitability and stakeholder satisfaction. Extensive experience in contract negotiation and administration, including a deep understanding of FIDIC, the Indian Contract Act, and relevant legal frameworks. Demonstrated expertise in project finance, risk management, and regulatory compliance, with a strong understanding of financial modelling and investment analysis. Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and persuade at the highest levels. Strong business acumen, with a deep understanding of the infrastructure sector, market dynamics, and competitive landscape. Experience in land acquisition, rehabilitation, and resettlement (R&R) processes, and a proven ability to mitigate project delays due to these factors. Familiarity with advanced project management methodologies and a solid understanding of fundamental design principles to ensure effective and timely project execution. Proficiency in project management software, including Primavera P6, MS Project, and BIM, as well as ERP systems like SAP.
