Job Description

Job Title: Sr. Metallurgist / Lab Incharge Location: Bangalore Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Metallurgist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the extraction, processing, and testing of metals and alloys, contributing to the development of high-quality metal products and enhancing manufacturing processes. Key Responsibilities: Material Analysis: Conduct metallurgical analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards. Process Development: Develop and optimize metal extraction and refining processes, including smelting, casting, and heat treatment. Quality Control: Implement and monitor quality control procedures for metal products, including physical and chemical testing. Failure Analysis: Investigate material failures and provide technical solutions to improve product performance and durability. Research & Development: Participate in R&D projects to innovate new metal alloys and improve existing materials and processes. Technical Support: Provide metallurgical expertise to support manufacturing operations, including troubleshooting process issues and recommending process improvements. Compliance: Ensure that all metallurgical processes adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of experiments, test results, and process changes. Qualifications: Education: Diploma / BE / Masters degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related field. Experience: min 5 years of experience in metallurgy or materials engineering, preferably in automotive, aerospace, manufacturing. Skills: Strong knowledge of metallurgical processes and metal properties. Proficiency in using metallurgical equipment and analytical tools. Experience with failure analysis and testing methodologies. Ability to interpret metallographic, chemical, and mechanical test results. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Good communication and teamwork abilities. Familiarity with CAD and simulation software. Experience in project management and process optimization. Conduct training sessions pertaining to RM Process, Special Process & Issues in RM Alternate material proposal to customer based on available nearby material. Route cause analysis of material crack and variations in secondary processes & during machining. impact of material composition on secondary processes like HT, Anodizing, MN PH. Interact with customers, suppliers and internal business units to provide unique material & special process solutions Analyse casting, Forgings, MIM, Bar stock material defects to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence Develop and manage metallurgical operations and work practices that maximize operational efficiencies
