Department: Sales Reports To: Managing Director Job Summary: The Sales Director is responsible for developing and executing the sales strategy for our Diamond Grading Lab. This role involves leading the sales team, building and maintaining strong relationships with clients in the jewelry and diamond industry, and driving revenue growth through the acquisition of new clients and the retention of existing ones. The Sales Director will work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, and research, to ensure alignment with business goals. Key Responsibilities: Sales Strategy Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve revenue targets and market share growth in the diamond grading sector. Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to identify new sales opportunities and refine existing offerings. Set clear sales goals and performance metrics for the sales team, monitoring progress regularly. Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and motivate the sales team, fostering a high-performance culture and encouraging professional development. Conduct regular training sessions to enhance the sales team's skills in product knowledge, sales techniques, and customer engagement. Perform performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, including jewelry retailers, wholesalers, and manufacturers, to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions. Conduct regular meetings with clients to review service delivery, gather feedback, and identify opportunities for upselling or cross-selling additional services. Represent the lab at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to promote services and enhance the lab's visibility in the market. Revenue Growth and Performance Monitoring: Drive revenue growth through proactive sales initiatives, including lead generation, client acquisition, and retention strategies. Monitor sales performance metrics and KPIs, analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Prepare and present regular sales reports and forecasts to senior management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and growth opportunities. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with marketing to develop targeted campaigns and promotional materials that align with sales goals and market needs. Work closely with operations and research teams to ensure service delivery meets client expectations and that new services are effectively launched. Provide feedback from clients and the market to inform product development and enhance service offerings. Market Research and Competitor Analysis: Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies in diamond grading. Analyze competitors' strengths and weaknesses to position the lab's services effectively and gain a competitive advantage. Compliance and Ethical Standards: Ensure all sales activities comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and ethical practices, particularly in the diamond grading industry. Promote the lab's commitment to ethical sourcing and sustainability in all sales efforts. Qualifications: Education: Bachelors degree in business administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in sales, with a proven track record in the diamond or jewelry industry. Previous experience in a leadership role, managing a sales team and achieving revenue targets. Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and stakeholders at all levels. Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions. Proficiency in CRM software and sales analytics tools. Deep understanding of the diamond grading process, industry standards, and market dynamics. Personal Attributes: Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a strong drive to achieve sales goals.
