Job Title: Design Engineer Reporting To: AGM Design & Engineering Location: Peenya, Bangalore Position Summary:The Assistant Manager - Design will be responsible for leading the design and development of new products within the Extruder, Process Equipment, Automobile, or Machine Tool Industry (OEM). The role requires a Mechanical Design Engineer with 7 to 8 years of experience, strong design calculation skills, and the ability to manage a team of engineers. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Solidworks, AutoCAD, and other relevant tools, and will be capable of handling projects independently or with minimal guidance. Job Responsibilities:Technical, Operational, and Organizational Responsibilities:IN ORDER TO understand requirements from the sales team:Gather and interpret requirements through PCR (Product Change Request).IN ORDER TO prepare models and drawings:Create 3D models and 2D drawings using Solidworks.Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to ensure adequate tolerance in drawings.IN ORDER TO perform necessary design calculations:Conduct machine design calculations to ensure product integrity and performance.IN ORDER TO communicate effectively with various teams:Maintain strong communication with planning, assembly, sourcing, and sales teams.IN ORDER TO manage design plans and schedules:Prepare design plans, release drawings, and BOM (Bill of Materials) as per schedule.IN ORDER TO clarify new systems with suppliers:Visit suppliers to clarify requirements and ensure alignment with design specifications.IN ORDER TO collaborate with other design teams:Work closely with EPZ, Spares, CBE, and Electrical design teams to ensure cohesive project execution.IN ORDER TO handle projects independently:Manage and execute projects with minimal guidance, ensuring timely and quality delivery.IN ORDER TO guide and manage a team:Lead and mentor a team of 4-5 engineers, providing guidance and support as needed. Qualifications:Education Level and Years of Relevant Experience:B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed institute. M.E./M.Tech in Design Engineering is an advantage.4 to 8 years of experience in the design and development of equipment design. Technical Skills:Solid experience in new product development.Expertise in Solidworks 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation.Experience with AutoCAD.Ability to design parts/components and sub-systems independently.Strong knowledge of design calculations necessary for machine design.Proficiency in GD&T and tolerance stack-up.Exposure to parts manufacturing processes and metallurgy.Knowledge of DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).Experience in structural analysis and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) using ANSYS software. Soft Skills:Fluent in English with strong presentation skills.Flexible and able to work well within a team.Eagerness to learn and adapt.

Technical Skills:Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.Understanding of HMC&VMC programming, including G-codes and M-codes.Knowledge of tool selection, offsets, and tool wear monitoring.Familiarity with measuring instruments like micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.Ability to set up, operate, and maintain HMC machines.Skill in selecting and handling work-holding fixtures like clamps, vises, or pallets.Expertise in performing machining processes like milling, drilling, and tapping.
