Position Overview This role is to be offered at either Junior Engineer or Mid-Senior Engineer level depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. You will be working with other team members and managers and responsible for Engineering and Design services during the proposal, engineering and construction stages of projects with strict adherence to the project contract for medium-voltage and high-voltage substation projects, both Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS) and Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Substation, Rail, Infrastructure, Data Centre, Battery Energy Storage System and Wind Offshore & Onshore Substation, including but not limited to 11- 400kV range with an emphasis on project safety, cost, quality and reliability. This position requires the ability to clearly and effectively communicate in order to successfully collaborate, coordinate, and resolve project design related activities and issues. It also requires the ability to independently manage design with minimum supervision. Good conversation and writing skills as well as normal tact and courtesy are required. The range of designs will include substation equipment foundations, equipment structures in steel and aluminium, multi-storey steel framed equipment buildings, drainage, road and elements of transmission towers, lightning masts, and the like. Involved in the execution strategies and upfront work for projects (e.g., topo surveys, geotechnical investigations, drainage strategy, design basis statements, understanding the construction estimates). Collaborate with other disciplines and offices within the company to develop successful designs and solutions to engineering problems. Review the work by Other Designers, giving consideration to construction costs and making an effective contribution to identify and resolve any issues. Review calculations provided by others and understand if the level of information presented is suitable, appropriate and the design is economic. Such activities may require a forensic review on hand calculations and the output from computer design packages. Experience in the use of Eurocodes and British Standards or equivalent. Roads and drainage design, including a sound understanding of utility provision and general civil engineering practise. Develop to advanced level design packages, in the use of structural analysis software, AutoCAD, MS Office and various other in-house calculation software as required. Able to work under pressure and meet tight schedule deadlines. Essential Skills and Experience Civil detailed design experience for substation projects Honours degree as a minimum qualification Working towards or having become professionally qualified with either the ICE or the IStructE Extensive experience in Auto CAD and proficient in 2-D drafting Working knowledge of M&E design concepts, principles and associated coordination Good understanding of construction and site health and safety requirements Experienced in design and detail of structure and superstructure solutions for substation projects Proficient in the modelling and detailing of civil foundations and steelwork structures Excellent client facing skills Require good communication skills both verbal and written English Relationship Management Maintain productive working relationships with team members, peers and customers, service providers, industry groups and other relevant stakeholders Carry out the duties of the role in a professional and ethical manner and in accordance with the Companys values and Code of Conduct requirements. You must demonstrate the high quality of leadership and lead by example. Other Requirements You must at least have minimum of 3 to 10 years significant design experience in the required field. Woking Hours: April to October: MondayFriday | 10am 7pm November to March: MondayFriday | 11am 8pm (During peak periods, flexibility will be required) Salary: Negotiable and depending on experience. Gratuity scheme for continuity of service. Probationary Period: Six months.
