This role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities including administrative tasks, communication management, and coordination with various internal and external stakeholders. Roles and Responsibilities Job Overview: The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the school premises, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role involves managing the housekeeping staff, planning and overseeing cleaning schedules, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Responsibilities and Duties: Staff Management: Supervise and coordinate the activities of the housekeeping staff. Train new staff members in proper cleaning techniques and the use of cleaning equipment. Schedule shifts and allocate daily cleaning responsibilities to ensure coverage of all areas. Cleaning and Maintenance: Oversee the daily cleaning of classrooms, hallways, offices, and public areas to meet health and safety standards. Ensure that bathrooms are sanitized and well-stocked with supplies. Manage the upkeep of floors, walls, furniture, and school equipment. Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment. Order and restock items as needed, ensuring budget compliance. Perform routine inspections of cleaning equipment and arrange for repairs or replacements when necessary. Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of the school premises to ensure cleaning standards are upheld. Address any hygiene or cleaning deficiencies promptly. Implement quality control measures to improve cleaning procedures. Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure that all cleaning activities are conducted in accordance with health and safety regulations. Provide training to staff on the proper handling of chemicals and hazardous materials. Develop and enforce safety protocols, including emergency response procedures. Communication: Serve as the point of contact for school staff and administrators regarding housekeeping services. Address and resolve any issues or complaints related to cleanliness or maintenance. Coordinate with other departments to facilitate special events or activities that require additional cleaning services. Qualifications: High school diploma or Graduate; further training in Facilities Management or a related field is preferred. Proven experience in housekeeping or facility management, ideally in an educational or large institutional setting. Strong leadership and people management skills. Knowledge of cleaning techniques and safety regulations. Ability to organize, multitask, and prioritize workloads. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Skills: Effective supervisory and organizational skills. Proficiency in managing budgets and resources. Competence in scheduling and planning.
