Job Description

Job Title: System Administrator Department: IT Reports To: IT Admin Job Summary: The System Administrator is responsible for the strategic maintenance, optimization, and security of the organizations IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, hardware, software, and cloud systems. This role ensures high availability, performance, and security while leading IT projects, mentoring junior staff, and aligning technology with business goals. Key Responsibilities: Infrastructure Management: Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise IT systems (servers, storage, virtualization, cloud, and on-premises environments). Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure maximum uptime (99.9 %+ SLA). Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other core services. Network & Security: Configure and secure firewalls, switches, VPNs, and wireless networks. Implement cybersecurity best practices (antivirus, endpoint protection, SIEM, IAM). Conduct vulnerability assessments and lead compliance efforts (ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA). Leadership & Collaboration: Mentor junior IT staff and provide Tier 3/4 escalation support. Liaise with vendors, stakeholders, and departments to align IT with business needs. Document systems, policies, and procedures for knowledge sharing. Innovation & Optimization: Automate repetitive tasks (PowerShell, Python, or Ansible). Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements. Qualifications & Skills: Education: B.Com, B.Sc. B.A (OR) Diploma candidates are preferred. Experience: 2-3 years in systems/network administration. Technical Skills: Expert in Windows/Linux servers, VMware/Hyper-V, Azure/AWS. Networking (Cisco/Meraki, TCP/IP, VLANs, SD-WAN). Certifications (Preferred): Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator/Expert Cisco CCNA/CCNP Soft Skills: Excellent communication (able to explain tech to non-tech stakeholders). Work Environment: Hybrid/on-site with occasional after-hours support for critical issues. Fast-paced, requiring adaptability to new technologies.
