The MBD dynamic modeling Engineer will work with global, cross-disciplinary teams to apply model-based design and verification tools and methods to create the next generation of control solutions for a full range of HVAC/R equipment and systems for residential and/or building applications. In this role, the candidate will work alongside RES MBD engineers to ensure timely MBD support pursuant to successful production release. The candidate will have responsibility for the following in addition to adhoc assignments as needed. Develop physics-based thermo-fluid dynamic models of HVAC & amp; R components and systems. Perform model calibration, validation, and physics-based analysis of system behaviors. Provide expertise in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and thermal management system analysis in the development of next-generation high-efficiency and environmentally friendly HVAC & amp; R and energy systems. Quantify the trade-offs between designs being proposed by the engineering team. Leverage test data to improve the analysis provided to the engineering team. LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY: Complete discrete MBD tasks to meet design and project objectives. Design thermodynamic systems or sub-systems with minimal guidance. Apply expert knowledge of Mechanical and Systems engineering. Provide expertise within the MBD (thermal system modeling) discipline. Making moderate to significant improvements to processes, systems, or products to enhance the performance of MBD workflows. Strong participation in thermal system & amp, sub-system modeling innovation and integration projects TYPICAL EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: MBD Systems Modelling Engineer HRDC. Bachelor's degree in mechanical/Aerospace or Chemical Engineering with + 2 years of applicable experience. Master's degree in engineering preferred. KEY QUALIFICATIONS: Heat transfer and two-phase flow expertise and thermodynamic cycle analytical skills. Experience with vapor-compression refrigeration or power generation systems including related components: heat exchangers and compression technologies. Understands the fundamentals of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics. Understands systems & amp, controls engineering fundamentals. Experience with model-based design processes. Modeling and optimization of thermo-fluid systems and components to improve efficiency. Ability to create physics-based models with numerical procedures for steady-state and dynamic simulation at different levels of fidelity. Expertise in Matlab/Simulink, VBA or C++, and Python, EES. Experience in system identification, linear regression, and statistical modeling. Experience with design optimization & numerical computation approaches. Good communication skills and team working experience. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with diverse audiences including cross-functional team members, senior leaders, global suppliers, and external customers including service managers and technicians. Self-starter with the ability to learn quickly. Organized with strong attention to detail.
