We seek a proactive Lab Instructor to oversee design lab operations, support students in prototyping, and collaborate with faculty and industry experts. The role requires expertise in lab management, technical mentorship, and hands-on design tools. Key Responsibilities: Lab Management & Maintenance Ensure all tools, equipment, and materials are well-maintained and in working condition. Maintain inventory and procure necessary supplies for prototyping and fabrication. Enforce safety protocols and best practices in the lab. Student Support & Mentorship Assist students with hands-on prototyping, model-making, and material selection. Support students in understanding design processes, ergonomics, and usability principles. Technical Expertise & Training Conduct workshops on various prototyping tools, design techniques, and software. Train students in safe handling of lab equipment and machinery. Stay updated with emerging technologies in product design and prototyping. Collaboration with Faculty & Industry Experts Work closely with faculty to align lab activities with course objectives. Coordinate with industry professionals for guest lectures or hands-on sessions. Assist in organizing design competitions, exhibitions, and innovation challenges. Project & Research Support Assist students and faculty in executing research-based design projects. Provide technical inputs on materials, manufacturing processes, and sustainability. Support the development of prototypes for academic and industry collaborations. Compliance & Safety Regulations Lab Safety Protocols: Knowledge of workshop safety regulations, risk assessment, and emergency procedures. Compliance Management: Ensuring adherence to institutional and industry standards. Key Competencies: Technical Competencies Prototyping & Fabrication: Expertise in 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC machining, woodworking, and metalworking. CAD & Design Software: Proficiency in SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, or similar tools. Material Knowledge: Understanding of plastics, wood, fibers, metals, composites, and sustainable materials. Manufacturing Processes of different materials. Lab Equipment Maintenance: Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate lab machinery. Instructional & Mentoring Skills Teaching & Training: Ability to conduct workshops and guide students in hands-on learning. Mentorship: Supporting students with design projects, problem-solving, and skill development. Communication Skills: Clear and effective verbal and written communication for instruction and documentation. Project Management & Collaboration Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects efficiently. Collaboration: Working closely with faculty, students, and industry professionals to enhance learning outcomes.
