Vendor Development Engineer

Job Description

Vendor Identification and Evaluation: Identify and source potential vendors based on project requirements and specifications. Conduct thorough evaluations of vendor capabilities, including technical expertise, manufacturing capacity, and quality systems. Assess vendor financial stability and risk factors. Vendor Development and Improvement: Develop and implement vendor development plans to improve vendor performance and capabilities. Conduct vendor audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement. Provide technical assistance and training to vendors to enhance their processes and quality systems. Work with vendors to implement corrective and preventive actions. Quality Assurance: Ensure vendors comply with quality standards and specifications. Monitor vendor quality performance and address any quality issues. Conduct supplier quality audits and inspections. Establish and maintain vendor quality metrics. Cost Reduction and Negotiation: Identify cost reduction opportunities within the supply chain. Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors to achieve cost savings. Analyze vendor cost structures and identify areas for optimization. Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors. Act as the primary point of contact for vendor communications. Resolve vendor disputes and issues in a timely and professional manner. Foster long-term strategic partnerships with key vendors. Supply Chain Optimization: Analyze supply chain data to identify opportunities for improvement. Implement strategies to optimize lead times, inventory levels, and delivery performance. Monitor vendor performance and ensure timely delivery of materials. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of vendor evaluations, audits, and performance data. Generate reports on vendor performance and development activities. Document vendor development plans and progress.
